The Chestnut Apartments

The Chestnut is a boarding house in La Junta, Colorado, USA, originally built in 1908 and designed by architect John Gwyn. The project carefully restores the original front porch and masonry exterior using the original plans, while introducing a new rear porch and balconies and converting the building into a modern 10-unit apartment complex.

The first-floor apartments are designed as duplex units extending into the basement, maximizing usability and affordability, and the redesigned rear entry provides accessible access to the first floor.
